How to Clean Your Bathroom Mirror
Don’t let a dirty bathroom mirror be a bad reflection of your cleaning abilities! Here are some easy hacks to clean your bathroom mirrors without streaking and spotting.
1. Make It & Spray It
Mix a solution of 1/3 cup of white vinegar and 1/2 teaspoon of liquid dish soap with 2 cups of water in a spray bottle.
Voila! You have homemade glass cleaner that works just as well as the store-bought version. Remember to spray the solution on a cloth, not directly onto the mirrors.
2. Let’s Face It
Your mirror takes the brunt sometimes of overly aggressive teeth brushing that leaves flecks of toothpaste on the mirror. Hair spray and other hair care products can also wind up on the bathroom mirror as you primp for the day.
Pre-treat your mirror spots with a cotton pad and rubbing alcohol before cleaning the mirror to make sure those spots don’t get spread into a bigger mess.
3. Move In the Right Direction
While it seems natural to wipe the mirror in counterclockwise circles, it’s best to clean using side-to-side or zig-zagging strokes from the top corner of the mirror, working your way down. This helps you avoid smearing sections you’ve already cleaned.
4. The Finishing Touch
Once you’ve sprayed and wiped the mirror, finish the job using a clean, dry microfiber cloth. This can clean up any remaining streaks or spots, leaving a polished look.
If you use a paper towel to clean your mirror or even some pre-treated one-time-use towelettes, never dispose of those down the toilet. Paper towels and towelettes, and even most wipes marketed as “flushable,” don’t break down in your plumbing like toilet paper is designed to do. It can leave you with more to worry about than a streaky mirror!
