The Best Way to Clean Bathroom Mirrors

Don’t let a dirty bathroom mirror reflect poorly on the cleanliness of your home.

Toothpaste splatter, steamy streaks, fingerprints, and aerosol spray products are bad looks for your bathroom mirror. Here are some of the best tips for a sparkling, clean bathroom mirror.

The Tools You Need

  • Glass cleaner or a DIY solution
  • Microfiber clothes
  • A squeegee (optional)

The Solution is in the Solution

Many glass cleaners are on the market, but the most basic homemade glass cleaner can do the trick. All you need is to make a solution of one part white vinegar and one part distilled water mixed in a spray bottle. This mixture ensures your solution isn’t too soapy, which can create a scum or buildup.

Spray the solution directly onto your mirror using enough that it won’t drip. The vinegar in the solution helps to dissolve the stuck-on grime.

Out, Damned Spot!

For a tricky, stuck-on mirror blemish like hairspray or a hardened toothpaste blob, dab a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad and treat those spots before cleaning the entire mirror.

This will prevent spreading that spot and causing a worse mess than when you started!

Get Prepped

Before you start cleaning, use a dry microfiber cloth to quickly dust the mirror and remove any loose dust or dirt that might scratch the glass during the cleaning.

Spray Away

Lightly mist the mirror with your cleaning solution. Too many solutions will not improve the job; it will create streaks.

It’s All in the Wrist

Using your microfiber cloth, wipe the mirror in an S pattern. Start at the top left corner of the mirror and work your way across horizontally using your best Queen of England wave. Overlap your finished areas slightly and repeat until you’ve covered the entire surface.

Or Use a Squeegee

If you prefer to use a squeegee, start at the top left and pull the squeegee down, wiping the blade with a clean cloth after each pass. Move horizontally until you’ve completed the entire surface.

Finally, use a second dry microfiber cloth to give your mirror a final buff, removing leftover solution.
